I'm always looking for effective ways to communicate with my hostesses before their party. I want them to know exactly what to do so it's as successful as possible.

I recently sat down and created a simple "check list" for my hostesses. I print this directly on the back of my "Can't wait to party with you" card and mail this directly to my hostess. This has been a huge help to me, and  I want to make it available to you!

Receive this digital download free when you purchase the "Party with You" flat note card between April 14-April 30, 2016. How to use:

  • Download on your computer
  • Open with adobe acrobat
  • Put a card in the printer

It's so important to recognize special team dates, such as birthdays and renewals. To recognize these dates I mail out my "Anniversary" and "Birthday" Cards each month.

I know this task can sound overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be! Did you know you can print directly on our flat cards with a basic printer? This is such a time saver!

I created a Word template with what I wanted the anniversary and birthday cards to say, and at the beginning of each month I print these out and personally sign them. You can even add a personal note. Technology cannot replace a personal touch. After I mail the anniversary card, I make sure follow up with a phone call.

How to set up a template in word:

Step 1: Open a new Word Document and select "File, Page Setup"

Step 2: When you open "Page Setup", then select "Manage Custom Sizes" at the bottom.

Step 3: Add a new custom size by selecting the plus sign in the bottom left. Double click "Untitled" to name your new custom size. I named mine a6 Card, (this refers to the card size). This setting will stay in Word so you can select it for every card you want to print that's the same size. If you don't name it, it will be listed as "Untitled."

Step 4: Type in your card size. Our cards are 6.25x4.5. I left my margins 0 but you can customize this as well. Select ok, and your page will be ready to type in.

If need be, adjust your tabs in the ruler. See below.

When you are ready, you can print. Each printer is different, so you may need to play around with your printer settings to get it to print correctly.

Once you have your template set up, it's ready to go for the next month.

This should be a great time saver for you, it has been for me!

If you are looking at your calendar for next month and need bookings, a personal note with $25 gift cards just might do the trick. Maybe you are wanting to ensure the bookings you have on your calendar for next month hold. 

Here are 3 tips to help impact your calendar with bookings.

  1. Mail your hostess a $25 gift card for each show that was booked from her show. She can use these to spend on the night these shows are held. She can choose to use her Hostess VIP Shopping Discount or the $25 gift card but can't combine the two. This encourages her to partner with you and keep her friends encouraged and to hold their show. Your hostess will not want to lose that $25 gift card for shopping. It is well worth it in my opinion and has worked well for me.  Another reason I love to give the $25 gift cards is, many times a hostess has a show with bookings, but feels obligated to buy at each show and it discourages her from booking again with me in the future. By giving her a gift card for each show booked from her show, you have overcome that objection and she will be eager to re-book in the future and encourage her friends to book as well.
  2. Mail gift cards in a note to friends, family, past hostesses and customers for show referrals. I love sending a note along with the gift cards asking them if they could refer 2 friends to me for a jewelry party. You will receive a $25 gift card to spend at each friends show. They can even re-book themselves and keep the gift card to spend on their own show. On the back of the card in the "gifted to" line, I would write "gifted to: Leigh Weaver to redeem at Michal Phillips show." You will need to follow-up with a phone call, they have good intentions but most will never call you back it doesn't mean they aren't interested it means they got busy and forgot. You will always have to be the one to call them back. You miss out when your failed to ask for referrals.
  3. Mail past hostesses a VIP Shopping Card. If you have hostesses that haven't held a show in 6 months or longer you can mail and VIP Hostess Shopping Card along with a Style Guide and tell them it is time renew the great VIP Hostess shopping benefits. You can enclose a $25 gift card they can claim by contacting you first to schedule a date. These things create the desire to re-book.

Mailing notes keeps your business personal and your customers will pay attention to it when it comes by way of mail. Text and emails get ignored these days, personal mail doesn't. These tools have make a difference in my business, I feel confident they can in yours as well.  Be proactive in your business, it is the difference maker

Whenever I'm out and about I always make sure I look like a jewelry lady, I never leave home with less than 6-11 pieces of jewelry on. It never fails, people always compliment me on my jewelry. I take this opportunity to try and generate business. The compliment card is how I do this!

To get started, download the Compliment card here.

It will come as a PDF 4 to a page. Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat and type in your personal information in the label spot.

Next print out the card on card stock and cut

Attach your choice of gift card ($5, $10, $25) with tape or glue dots, I like to use washi tape to give it an extra cute touch. Gift cards are sold separately and can be found here.


Now you're ready to go! Keep these in your bag, purse or diaper bags.

Whenever someone compliments me, I say something like, "Thank you! This is actually a part of a line of jewelry I sell, since you were so sweet to compliment me, here's a gift card. I'd love to be your jewelry lady (or accessory stylist), if you don't mind texting me your name and number I'll text you a direct link to my online catalog so you can cash that in. I promise I won't hound or bug you."

You can also take this time to tell her how she can "upgrade" that card to get that piece she just complimented free by hosting a show.

Happy Mother’s Day!

What I learned from my mom about "Making It Special"

Growing up we never had a lot of money but we had lots of love!  My dad was a pastor in North Alabama.  My mom was a stay at home mom for many of those years.  I watched my parents work hard to provide for my sister, brother and myself.  My mom made our clothes, my dad fixed our cars and anything else that broke.  They planted and cared for a one acre garden to provide our food. Mom canned and froze all of the vegetables they had grown to provide for us in the winter. My mom cut all of our hair to save money. No… she was not licensed.  That might have helped by the looks of some of my hairstyles, but it saved us money!:)  There wasn't anything they couldn't do!   The lack of money never kept us from feeling “Special.”    Every “Special” occasion my mom would make my sister and me a beautiful new outfit.  Birthdays were always the best!  She would always make our favorite “Special” meal and bake us our favorite “Special” birthday cake.  She would serve us on her “Special” dishes. “Special” didn't stop at birthdays.  We had “Special” clothes and “Special” shoes we could only wear to church or to other “Special” events.   Christmas was “Special” on steroids.  Everything was beautifully decorated.  I remember her even making her own candles. I believed in Santa Claus till the 6th grade because I knew there was no way he couldn't be real, my parents couldn't afford all the “Special” things we got.  Even though my grandmother lived only walking distance from our home, every Christmas Eve we would dress in our very best “Special” clothes to wear to her house for our “Special” family Christmas Eve dinner.  Yes, we would wear beautiful “Special” matching outfits that my mom had made for that “Special” dinner.  Still to this day, when I travel home from Dallas to Alabama, I arrive home to my mom’s table set with her “Special” finest linen tablecloth, her “Special” china, crystal and silver. Of course there is a plethora of “Special” dishes that she has spent two days preparing, as well as an array of “Special” desserts. I leave gaining 5 lbs every time, but it is always “Special!”

There is no extent that my mom doesn't go to make things, “Special!”  I must share with you one of my most “Special " memories of my Mom that I love so much!  It makes me smile and laugh, but most of all, feel so “Special” and loved.    When I got engaged and started planning our wedding, there wasn’t enough money for a caterer, wedding planner or a florist to do the flowers… there was my mom. She did it all!!  One day I came home from college to find the most beautiful flowers on the dining room table. They were the perfect color for my wedding…. Mauve!  How many of you remember that “Special” HOT color from the 80’s? (Haha!)   I asked my mom where they came from? Her reply was, “God gave them to us!”  My reply was, “Really, mom, where did they come from?”  She continued to evade my questions.  Now, let me set the stage for the answer.  Remember…. my dad was a pastor, we lived in the parsonage right next to the church… which was RIGHT next to the cemetery.   Are you seeing where this story is going????  Finally, my mom told me the people cleaning off the cemetery stopped by to see if she wanted any of the flowers.  My sweet mom climbed up in the back of that huge truck to dig through all of those cemetery flowers to find the perfect “Special” ones for my wedding.  Those cemetery flowers were turned into beautiful arrangements with her “Special” touch.  Still to this day back home, people still mention what a beautiful wedding we had. They always say it was one of the prettiest weddings they have ever attended. It was “Special!” I now know God did provide those flowers because my mom prayed He would.  He did provide in His own “Special” way! I believe God has a great sense of humor!

Now you know the rest of the story.  You now know why I love ‘Special!”    My mom made me fall in love with “Special.” My mom is “Special!”  What a blessed life I have been given.  I have heard it said, that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.  I will never forget how “Special” my mom has made me feel all these years!

My mom is the picture of a Proverbs 31 woman.

Vs 10 “A woman of noble character, who can find?  She is worth more than rubies.” That’s my mom!

Vs 28 – 30. “Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.  Charm is deceptive, beauty fades away, but a women who fears the Lord is to be praised”

My mom grows more beautiful every year.  I am so thrilled to introduce you to her and honor her on this very “Special” day!

Happy Mother’s Day mom! I love you!!!  Thanks for all you do!

As I write this, I am reminded that so many of you reading this may have never had that love in your life. Maybe you grew up without your mom.   Maybe you never had anyone make you feel “Special” or loved.  That makes me sad!   I want you to know that YOU are “Special!” I just read this morning from Ephesians 2:10.  “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us (YOU) long ago.”   This verse is all about “Special.”  God made you “Special” and He has a “Special” plan just for YOU! He loves YOU!  That is the most special of “Special!” to be loved by God!
